IF YOU ARE joining us for a tour in the South African Cape, or Lesotho, we are now offering a phenomenal wildlife experience as a ‘bolt-on.’ This extra option includes a safari drive in Addo Elephant National Park and the opportunity to radio-track cheetah in Mountain Zebra National Park. Two additional night’s accommodation are included, as is all transport and guiding.
Day One: Addo National Park
Having completed your tour, we will collect you from you accommodation the following morning and transport you to Addo National Park for a guided game drive. Here you can certainly expect to see plenty of elephant, up close, plus zebra, kudu, warthog, eland and others. We usually see Cape buffalo and often lion, hyena and tortoises. You can also expect to see many birds species, such as weaver birds, glossy starlings, ostrich and a host of raptors.

Evening One: To Mountain Zebra National Park
At around 2pm, following lunch in the park, we will leave Addo and head for the Karoo Desert. It’s a pleasant 2.5-hour drive to Mountain Zebra National Park, where we will be staying within the park itself. If you choose, a late-evening/night drive can be taken, searching for lion, black rhino, brown hyena, aardwolf, bat-eared fox, serval and more. We will round off the night with dinner in the park’s restaurant.
Our very comfortable rooms here look out over the park and if we’re lucky we will get to hear the spine-tingling lullaby of lions roaring in the distance.
Day Two: Radio Tracking Cheetahs
Up early for breakfast and then onto the 4X4 to head out into the bush. Using a radio tracking device, you will drive out to find the animals. When the spotted cats are spotted, the guide will lead you on foot for a closer look at the cheetah. This activity takes between three and four hours and there’s plenty more to be seen as you move around the park. You’ll be back at the park gates for lunch, following which we’ll be heading back to the Addo, with stops along the way. The night is spent in your beautiful farm-based guesthouse, where animals roam wild in the grounds.

A fantastic opportunity to see nature in the raw. John organised all our pick ups and transfers plus accommodation between Addo Elephant Park and Mountain Zebra National Park. Our guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their respective parks but I have to single out, Andrew, at the Mountain Zebra National Park for his exceptionally keen eye on our nocturnal safari, his dedication to the wildlife and for his passion, kind nature and vast knowledge of the animals under his dedicated eye.
I am very happy to recommend the wildlife experience add-ons. We saw plenty of wildlife on our trips including a cheetah and her four cubs. It was a privilege to be a participant in this experience.
