CAMPING BASH 2024

BLAZING SUMMER CAMPING BASH 2024

Hello. We are pleased to announce the details of this year's annual jolly, The Blazing Trails Camping Bash. Following the great enjoyment of last year's Bash, we are returning to Hagg's Bank in Cumbria, one of England's highest camp sites. Set in rolling hills on the edge of the Lake District, the venue offers not only one of the most beautiful settings, but also one that allows us to take advantage of some fantastic motorcycling, on both tar roads and dirt trails. As part of the event, we are offering ride-outs on both roads and trails. The road rides will take part on different routes on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we will head into the Lake District to enjoy the most scenic routes – including the Hardknott Pass. Sunday we enjoy the quieter roads in the direction of Northumbria. There will be very much more to see and do, so please check out the 'Overview' and 'Itinerary' for more details. Camper van price shown is for two people.

Hello. We are pleased to announce the details of this year's annual jolly, The Blazing Trails Camping Bash. Following the great enjoyment of last year's Bash, we are returning to Hagg's Bank in Cumbria, one of England's highest camp sites. Set in rolling hills on the edge of the Lake District, the location offers not only one of the most beautiful venues, but also one that allows us to take advantage of some fantastic motorcycling, on both tar roads and dirt trails.

As part of the event, we are offering guided ride-outs on both these roads and trails.

The road rides will take part on different routes on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we will head into the Lake District to enjoy the most scenic routes – including the Hardknott Pass. Sunday we enjoy the quieter roads in the direction of Northumbria.

Our Trail Ride routes will be graded to allow those who have never been off the tar the chance to have a go in a friendly, supported environment, with qualified guides to show the way and provide advice and assistance to those who require it. If you own a dual-purpose, adventure-type bike and want to have a go at what it was designed for, then this will be the place to give it a try. You are likewise welcome if you pilot a road-legal trail bike.

Joining us at the event will be Louise and Paul Hodgkinson from Hertfordshire Trail Riding Fellowship (TRF). Both have years of experience as off-road instructors and will be there for additional support and guidance on the trail rides. They also have many years of motorcycle travel experience and will be on-hand to share their wealth of knowledge and experience in the form of discussions and workshops.

Reasonably-priced food (with vegetarian options) will be available at breakfast and in the evenings, when there will also be a bar and a fire as a focus for chats. Those in the bunkhouse will have the use of the kitchen.

Videos, showcasing our tours, will be shown in the dining room and there will be a quiz and raffle.

Those who'd like to join us are welcome to arrive on the Friday, or Saturday – there is a provision to book various itineraries and accommodation at the point of booking. The campsite has both wooded and more open pitching areas. All are flat and the whole facility is clean and well-managed, with excellent bathroom facilities. Places can also be booked in Hagg's' very smart shared rooms. Although billed as 'dormitories' there are several shared 'bunkrooms' and we will keep one of these as female-only accommodation (you may want to book early to make sure you secure one of these beds). Clean linen – duvet, pillows, sheets – is provided.

The final details of timetabling will be available nearer to the date. In the meantime, we hope that most of your questions will be answered in our FAQs. If not, then please contact Lynne, who can be found at: lynne@blazingtrailstours.co.uk and telephoned on 07515 286157.

Tar/Dirt Guided Rides and More

Today you can choose to join a road ride-out into the Lake District National Park and tackle the famous Hardknott Pass, join our crew for a trail ride, or do your own thing in this beautiful area. In the later-afternoon/early evening we'll be offering a workshop on how to stand correctly on a bike when dirt riding. There will also be a quiz, with prizes (and questions not nearly so mad-difficult as last year). Food, drinks, chats etc.

Ride-Outs, Activities & Socials

Again, there's the choice to do a road ride or trail ride. Today's road ride will head north into the wild scenery of Northumbria. Later in the day there will be a slow riding 'race' and a presentation talk from young adventurer Laura and her father Dave, who will tell us all about their ride from one tip of the Americas to the other on Royal Enfield Himalayans. We will also be raffling a tour of choice (or part thereof, depending on uptake), with a hefty discount applied from our end. More beer, more chats and laughs etc...

Monday

Date : August 26, 2024

In the morning there will be a further presentation from one of our experts, before we start thinking of home. The BTT crew will commence packing our gear up at around midday and we expect everyone to arrive home knackered, but happy.
